If you are reporting a bug, include the version line from the bottom of the app's Settings screen — it looks like gym buk · 1.0 (17) — and what you were doing when it happened. That one line saves a round of questions.
Answers to the usual questions
Where is my data kept?
On your iPhone, and — if you are signed in to iCloud — in your own private iCloud database, so it comes with you to a new phone. It is never sent to us. There is no account to make and no server of ours involved. See the privacy policy for the full statement.
My workouts didn't show up on my new phone.
Three things to check, in this order:
- Both phones are signed in to the same Apple Account.
- iCloud Drive is on: Settings › your name › iCloud.
- The phone has a connection and you have given it a minute. The first sync after installing can take a little while; the app shows what it has as soon as iCloud hands it over, and it will not overwrite anything while it is still waiting.
Does it work offline?
Yes, completely. Everything is written to the phone first. iCloud only carries a copy to your other devices when there is a connection.
What does "carry over" in Settings do?
With it on, an exercise you are about to log starts out already holding the weight and set count from the last time you did it, so you only type what changed. Reps are always left empty on purpose — that is the number expected to move, and it is what tells the app you actually trained rather than just looked.
How do I delete everything?
Deleting the app removes it from the phone but does not delete the copy in iCloud — that is how your data survives changing phones. To remove that copy as well: Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Account Storage, find gym buk, and delete its data. Once it is gone, it is gone; we cannot recover it, because we never had it.
Is there an iPad or Android version?
No. gym buk is drawn for one hand and a tall screen, and it is iPhone only for now.
Is it available in other languages?
Not yet — the app is in English today. More languages are planned.
